How can you help fill the Library shelves?
Adopt-a-Book provides a unique opportunity for you to:
- help support Library collections;
- honour and celebrate special people and events in your life;
- receive a charitable tax receipt.
Your tax deductible contribution to Adopt-a-Book will be used to purchase Library material in the format and subject of your choice, when possible. Your name, or the name of someone you wish to honour, will appear in the nameplate in the books or items you purchase.
Adopt-a-Book can also help you celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, retirements, graduations, teacher appreciation, employee recognition, community awards, commemorative and memorial occasions. These are all perfect reasons to Adopt-a-Book.
Why does the Library need more books?
136,000 items were borrowed from the Library in 2007 by a growing number of Library users. In fact, 90% of residents own a Port Hope Public Library card. As a two-time winner of the Angus Mowat Award of Excellence, the Library is committed to providing high quality, comprehensive, current and relevant collections of books, audio books, CDs, DVDs/videos, periodicals, and much more. Your donation to Adopt-a-Book can help build up-to-date collections that benefit all residents.
How do you Adopt?
Simply print and fill in the Adopt-a-Book form then return it with your contribution to either branch of Port Hope Public Library. A donation of $25 will purchase one item. You may specify preferences on the form; otherwise Library staff will purchase according to collection needs.
You will receive a charitable tax receipt, and a nameplate will be placed inside your adopted book(s).
The Library will notify you when your adopted book is ready for the Library shelves, giving you the opportunity to be the first to enjoy your contribution!
Combine your love of reading and your appreciation for that special someone. Adopt-a-Book today!
