Public Comment Opportunity

The Farley Mowat Boat Roofed House is currently located at 20 Catherine Street, Port Hope. It is considered the largest monument dedicated to Farley Mowat in the world.

Council authorized the donation of the monument from the current owner to the Municipality of Port Hope. The Parks Recreation and Culture Advisory Committee presented Council with two possible sites for the relocation of the house.

These locations now are being presented to the public for comment and input from September 21st to October 5th, 2015. After the public consultation process, a follow-up report with a recommendation of a site for the Farley Mowat Boat Roofed House monument will be presented to Committee of the Whole on October 20, 2015.

The recommended sites are:

 1.      Riverside Park (corner of Mill and Peter Streets) or

  2.      Eastside Ganaraska Park (Mill Street in Rotary Park across the Ganaraska River from Port Hope Public Library)

Click here for proposed site locations.  Click here  for comment sheets.  Hard copies are located at the Jack Burger Sports Complex, Town Park Recreation Centre, Ruth Clarke Activity Centre, Canton Municipal Building, Mary J. Benson and Garden Hill Branch Libraries and Port Hope Town Hall.
